Atlanta 2 Day Walk For Breast Cancer

It’s just 1 week until the Atlanta 2 Day Walk for Breast Cancer October 15-16 in downtown Atlanta. My human has been walking almost every day to get ready for it. I’ve been to every training walk this year except the very first one. My human made it to every one!

Here are a few pictures from the Alpharetta training walk in August. He didn’t take the camera to the Sandy Springs walk. It was 12 miles and we did the whole thing together. That’s a long walk for these little legs. I’m glad he didn’t get pictures, those last 2 miles were pretty embarrassing for me. The human had to carry me twice, but only for about a 1/4 mile.

And here are a few pictures from the Stone Mountain walk in July, that one was 10 miles and I made the whole thing there too.

My human seem to have gotten a lot of pictures of me on this one. I’m not complaining.

Finally, check out the grand-opening of the Running Dachshund T-Shirt Store. We just started it today and we’ll be adding many more fun designs during October.

Atlanta 2 Day Dunwoody Training Walk

Today was a perfect day for the Dunwoody Training Walk for the Atlanta 2 Day Breast Cancer Walk. Team Agilysys got another member today as my human mommy Lorraine signed up  and got crew duty. She’s so happy to be able to join in and help.  Special thanks to Ray for making her feel welcome and keeping her busy while dad and I walked.

As always the safety crew was awesome. I got to mingle a little more with them. I’m still a little bit nervous around all the people and motorcycles but I’m getting better.

More pictures of me this time. I’m wearing my brand new Hug-A-Dog Harness in pink love and ribbon pattern. My new Contour ROAM Camera mount is super easy and comfortable too.

Here are a couple new pictures from the studio in my new harness. How can anyone resist those eyes. Remember I’m out here to help the Atlanta 2 Day Walk for Breast Cancer raise MONEY and awareness to help the local Atlanta community

So many great people out walking today. Here are a bunch of pictures. I’ll (my human dad) get a video edited and posted as soon as possible.

Scarlett and the Photographer

As we’ve said it’s been a real hard winter for everyone at the running dachshund’s house this year so we decided to splurge for some new photos of yours truly! I think he took 300 or more pictures of me. It was pretty hard but at least I didn’t have to wear some ridiculous costume. It’s just me and the light. Enjoy.

RUNDOXY is Here!

Well he did it. He went and got those crazy plates for the car. This would make it official my human is completely and totally crazy. BUT I must say I like his style.

Yes Dachshunds rule.

The no tag view

Yes this has nothing to do with running or dachshunds for that matter but a lot of my friends wanted to see how I get to the running trails. Well I get there rather quickly thank you!

Wet Roads and Slippery Slopes

Muddy Big CreekSaturday again and we’re out for a quick 4 mile cruise. The trail is slick, wet and in one section it stunk real bad too. I think the swampy wetlands part needs to dry out just a little the methane is getting thick. It was never the less, a great cool morning and everyone was having fun except that poor guy on the bicycle. The slick and slippery part took a guy on a bicycle down. He came into a turn a little too fast and the wheels came right out from under him.  He said he was OK but I think he’ll be pretty sore tonight.

Morning Sunrise on the GreenwayThe Forsyth County Greenway is such a great place to walk, run and bike and on the weekends it’s busy too. The parking lot was almost full when we got there at 7:15. Morning is also such a great time for unique pictures. I’ve gotta get my running partner (the human) to actually stop and take some good pictures. All these blurry, on the move pictures are always a little fuzzy because we’re always bouncing around.  Here is a pretty neat one looking into the sunrise on the return leg.

It rained pretty hard overnight Friday into Saturday morning and Big Creek was running high, fast and exceptionally muddy. Typically it runs real clear and pretty but with a little too much rain in the area it can get real full real fast and it does flood a lot. We did stop for a second on one of the overpass bridges to take the picture above showing that wonderful Georgia red clay water heading for the Chattahoochee.

Here’s a short video of today’s walk.

Indoor Play Time

Yes I know, it’s not running, it’s not even walking but it is moving and having fun! We played a little run and get the toy, then I watched my human exercise, man if he out of shape. Poor guy has had a ruff 6 months. I’m doing everything I can in the way of begging to get him motivated and back out. After play time and exercise he measured my sisters for new walking harnesses from Hug-a-Dog. I have one and it’s real nice. Of course it also has the mounting gear on it for my video camera because that’s just the way I roll. :–)

New Years Day we are going for a 5k walk on the Forsyth Greenway starting at the Bethelview parking lot at 9:00am. We’ll walk down to Fowler park where my mom will pick me up. My human walking/running partner (dad) needs to punish himself more so he will be walking back to the Bethelview parking lot to make it a 10k walk.  Click the Jan 1 entry in my Run Calendar for details and a map link. Check my run calendar for times and places where you can meet up with me (I’m much cuter in person)

Is it time to run now daddy?

Winter Weather is not Nice

Saturday the 27th of December was wet. Real wet. Can’t get outside to take care of business wet. I do not like the rain but I must force myself out at least twice or risk busting a gasket. Lucky for us we do have an alternate use location in the front of house where dachshunds can sneak out, do our business and get back to the blankets with a minimum amount of water reaching our delicate back sides. The humans took the opportunity today to purge the house of all things Christmas. The tree is gone, the trash is gone, the crates and boxes are put away in the storage building and the living room has once again been returned to the realm of dachshunds.

Just relaxing on a wet rainy day.

Trying to get back at it!

It’s been nearly 6 months since we have done any walking, running or posting. Getting old apparently sucks for humans (it sucks for dogs too). Knee strain got in the way of the walking and running and family got in the way of the knee and so 6 months later we are overweight, lazy and sore.

We got rid of the family, the knee is better and it feels like we can start to get back in to the swing of things. Please stay tuned for updates. I promise much more activity in the months ahead.

Christmas Bone!

I got a real nice bone for Christmas.

Running in the rain

Finally the first of hopefully many more videos of my running and walking adventures. This little short clip is from the Tuesday walk on the Forsyth Big Creek Greenway. If you’ve never been there give it a try, it’s great for walking, running and biking. Here is a link to the website.

This is the humans first video edit so be gentle on him. I’m sure he’ll improve over time.
